Why Ask?

A fellow was stuck on his rooftop in a flood. He was praying to God for help.

Soon a man in a rowboat came along and shouted to him to jump in. The stranded fellow shouted back "No it's OK, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me."

So the rowboat went on.

Then a motorboat came by and the fellow in the motorboat shouted to him "Jump in I can save you."

To this the stranded man said "No thanks, I'm praying to God, he will save save me. I have faith."

So the motorboat went on.

Then a helipcopter came by and the pilot shouted down, "Grab this rope and I will lift you to safety."

To this the stranded man again replied, "No thanks, I'm praying to God and he is going to save me."

So the helicopter reluctantly flew away.

Soon the water rose and sadly the man drowned. He went to Heaven and finally got his chance to ask God, "I have faith in you but you didn't save me. I don't understand why?"

To that God replied "I sent you a rowboat, motorboat and a helicopter, what more did you expect?

You may wonder why I have shared this joke (and it's only a joke, nothing meant by it) with you but it sprang to mind a short while ago when I came across another request from a business owner who stated that they needed more customers, the others were very much along the same lines, 'structure to sell their services, grow the business, marketing help, sales leads etc' All from different types of companys.

Those that responded to their requests were told what they should do, ie get a salesperson, increase prices, take on new products, but non I saw actually offered any guidance on how to go about this.

Now if you look at my website on the front page it clearly offers a free couple of hours to discuss in more detail your situtation and maybe a way of how to go about delivering what you need.

I offered to get together and discuss a way ahead with the above, non of whom however took me up on it. As a note: I've some 30 years of business development, sales, marketing experience so I may know a little about what I'm talking about.

I've come to the conclusion therefore that many just like to procrastinate, they want to move forward but lack the courage to enagage. I also think that most don't actually know what it is they want and saying I need more customers is a knee jerk reaction to either them losing money or unable to grow the business.

So my question to you lovely illustrious peole out there is this. Why ask, why ask for help if you are not prepared to invest a couple of hours in yourself. Because if you don't invest that time, then you are wasting it and more importantly, mine.
